Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki received Thursday UK Defense Minister Grant Shapps who is holding a visit to Egypt accompanied by a delegation.
The meeting tackled ongoing developments in the Middle East as well as matters pertinent to bilateral cooperation, mutual interests, and experience exchange.
General Zaki valued the bilateral ties in various fields, underscoring the importance of coordinating visions and efforts in order to avoid escalation and support security and stability in the region.
The UK defense minister lauded the Egyptian role in the region, particularly in terms of the current crisis in Gaza Strip, which has repercussions on international and regional security and stability.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff Osama Askar, a number of senior commanders at the Egyptian Armed Forces, and the UK ambassadors to Cairo.
