Cairo International Airport obtains AHA certificate, added to safe travel list
The certification is received by only environmentally compatible airports once they have taken all the precautionary measures stipulated locally and internationally against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
It recognises the effectiveness of the precautionary measures that have been applied at Egyptian airports to combat the spread of virus.
The certification also recognises the extent of Egypt’s commitment to applying the best health and safety standards, which sends a message of reassurance to travellers worldwide. It also reassures airlines that Cairo International Airport, and Egyptian airports in general, are safe and ready to receive air traffic in line with international standards.
The video reviewed the most prominent efforts made in terms of health and safety precautions at airports. It explained the application and follow-up of all precautionary and health measures adopted at Cairo International Airport since the resumption of flights in July 2020, with great care for the safety of travellers.
The video outlined that aircraft are sterilised and disinfected, with posters also placed in plain sight instructing workers to ensure that social distancing is maintained between passengers. This is applied at all travel and arrival halls, gates, elevators, and waiting areas at the airport, with a thermal camera system also having been activated.
It also highlighted the procedures followed by those in charge of quarantine at the airport, in terms of dealing with arrivals to Egypt. The video noted that swabs are taken from passengers and sent for analysis, to ensure that they are not infected with COVID-19.
The video pointed out that infected foreign passengers are returned on the same plane, while any Egyptian passengers are transferred to the Abbasiya Fever Hospital if the results of the tests are positive.
It showcased the opinions of a number of passengers, who praised the procedures followed inside the airport, the extent of cooperation and commitment to their application, and the speed and ease of completing the procedures.
